Workout Songs of the Week: Wale, Fabolous, Wayne & Diddy Dirty Money
My ipod is deceased, going to have to buy a new one. Like my 6th ipod in 2.5 years. Anyway here are few tracks I have been listening to the last couple days in the gym.
Wale is making a switch to be a little bit more of a mainstream rapper. Not sure how I feel about it but I can say that him and Roscoe Dash have some nice chemistry. Between this and “No Hands” Wale has two certified club hits, something his debut album lacked. Something to note Wale doesn’t sacrifice lyrical quality on his more commercial tracks, something he should be commended for. He also has some stuff coming out with Rick Ross, not a fan of the self proclaimed “Boss” but he does make music that people eat up. I really want to see Wale and Drake two of the wittier rappers out there. Although Wale tends to be a little bit more obscure with his references and Drake is a bit more blatant. Anyway tell me what you think about this new track “Talk to Me” featuring Roscoe Dash.

“You Be Killin’ Em” is far from new but I have gained a new appreciation for it. Always been a fan of Fabolous and he doesnt disappoint in this track. The song is off his There Is No Competition 2 Mixtape. Fabolous does not need a long write up. You know what to expect with Fabolous.

Can’t say I really missed Lil’ Wayne when he was in jail. I think he needed the time off to refocus and go back to his Carter 1 & 2 days. 6’7″ is the first single off of Carter IV, its supposed to be in the same vein as A Milli. I didn’t like that song at first and I dont like this song either but I’m sure it’ll grow on me. Im sure the non stop repitition it will get will eventually lower my sensibilities and make me like this song like most top 20 hip hop songs nowadays

P. Diddy is probably my favorite personality in hip-hop. Notice I said personality, not rapper because he is far from a rapper. and I believe he will admit that. However, he is a savvy businessman who continually screws over decent talent, without any consequences. For that alone he should be commended. Not to mention the dude knows how to make good music for himself. His last studio album “Press Play” is one of my favorite albums ever. Nothing too deep just feel good music. Last Train To Paris seems to be the same type of album, and based on my early listens this will get plenty of plays in my car stereo. The second single off the album Coming Home is a pretty dope track where he discusses the difficulties of being a pop music mogul. I’m sure its tough Sean.
BTW, am I the only one who thinks a 40 year old man wearing a grill is absurd? I guess you can do that when you’re a multi-millionaire.
